![]() ![]() Glad they finally decided to minimize the damage that the tractors were imparting on the course, but this of course diminished any chance of roll on a number of holes. ![]() Lift/clean/replace was a must, as every ball had chunks of mud on them after landing in these 'roughways'. As per Weber's recent review of the Mesa Linda course here, probably 50% + of each of the fairways have not been cut in some time, due to the rain/damp conditions that persist. Many fairways were still moist in spots/slight casual water. Still some wet ditches running perpendicular to the first, second, 5th, 6th, 10th, 13th fairways, with varying degree of damage from carts driving through. Lush and green, mostly very level and soft, but not wet. Tees were no doubt the best part of the day. We finished in 4 hours 20 minutes, waiting quite a bit on the back nine. Eventually caught up to them, as we took our time, as the 4some behind us was 1-2 holes backfrom the get-go. POP was a shocking 2 hours on the front, as the next group was 3 holes in front when we started. Played here with a friend as a 2some on Monday, Feb 13th, catching the first 'twilight' rates at 12:30pm. Another fantastic dish that we all love here is the sea bass slowly roasted in salt, it takes a while to prepare (they warn you of this) but the result is that the fish is amazingly tender and tasty. This dish is cooked over the course of the day and the meat simply falls off the bone and melts in your mouth. The restaurant speciality is the slow-cooked baby shoulder of Lamb. Los Abanicos provides real atmosphere for a superb meal. It is situated in Benahavis, which is a small town around 20 minutes drive into the mountains from Marbella and Puerto Banus, Los Abanicos is a must visit for everyone who comes to stay in the area (read more in our regional info section).
